A new millennium in cognitive neuropsychology research: the era of individual differences?
نویسنده
چکیده
A critical area in cognitive neuropsychology in the coming century is that of individual differences in the structure and functional organization of the brain and how they relate to individual differences in cognitive abilities. I propose that underlying differences in the brain will prove crucial to our understanding of a variety of specialized talents, particularly in those who are intellectually gifted (as compared to average ability). I further speculate on some of the practical implications that future research in cognitive neuropsychology will have on the development of educational techniques designed to optimize the learning experiences of high-ability students.

The vegetation covering of a region has a direct correlation with climate. So if data is available for vegetation cover, the second variable (climate) can be easily predicted and in reverse. The dominant species in a region are indication of its climatic conditions and vice versa. Accordingly, this is of significance in the science of historical botany. Fortunately, from the first millennium A...

Can the study of individual differences inform debates about modularity and the specialization of function? In this article, we consider the implications of a highly replicated, robust finding known as positive manifold: Individual differences in different cognitive domains tend to be positively intercorrelated. Prima facie, this fact, which has generally been interpreted as reflecting the infl...
